The Ugly Truth About PPC
Just to make sure that I got everything covered, let me first explain what is pay-per-click (PPC) advertising - it’s an advertising method where you’ll only pay for your ads if they’re being clicked. The most famous PPC program out there is Google Adwords and I’m a big fan of it.
You know, you can read the best Google Adwords ebook available in Clickbank.com or uncover the secrets to get the lowest bid or whatsoever tactics about PPC, but you’ll still not get far.
I’m telling you this so that you’ll stop get diluted with the nonsense courses out there promising you to make 5-figure income with running some ads on Google Adwords.
First, I’ll tell you why - if you want to make it big with PPC, you can’t be running just a handful of ads. You need to have hundreds or even thousands (no kidding). So even if you uncover some super secrets to PPC cash cow, you’re still restricted to only 24 hours a day (much lesser since you need to eat, sleep and do other things more important in your life).
Next, having a profitable PPC ad does not guarantee you tomorrow’s profit. By tomorrow, your competitor could already be in the game and wiping you out. That’s fact, and that’s the ugly truth.
You want to know what the real PPC fellas are not telling you?
They’re not competing with you on the same ground. Simple.
YOU CAN’T BE IN THE PPC GAME AND MAKE IT BIG IF YOU DON’T HAVE SOFTWARE DOING THE WORK FOR YOU.
The truth is, you need tools and automation to “play” in this game and win big. Honestly, that’s the only way (whether you like it or not).
Let me tell you the main two tools’ functionality that you’ll need:
1. The one that will save you time.
You cannot be setting up ads one-by-one, manually. I mean, you can but don’t expect to make tens of thousands of dollars doing it this way. You need software that can create 100 or 1,000 ads with a few clicks of a button. Just to try to think it this way - if an ad can make you $10 and it takes you 15 minutes to set up, you’ll need to spend 25 hours to put up 100 ads to make $1,000. This is why you need a software that can set up 100 ads to make you $1,000 in 15 minutes.
I’ve found an awesome software from Google called the Adwords Editor to help you to save time as much as possible and it’s free. Get it at http://www.google.com/intl/en/adwordseditor/index.html. However, it’s not very user-friendly but it’s sure a useful tool!
2. The one that do the marketing for you.
In the early part of this article, I talked about losing your profitable ad to your competitors. Why? It’s because they’re using tools to monitor on your ad and uses ‘artificial intelligence’ to beat you. Here’s a trick to make money with PPC without your own products – research on other advertisers who are making the big bucks.
Here’s what I mean - if you know an affiliate marketer who is making a killing by promoting a certain affiliate program with Google Adwords, what’s stopping you to promote the SAME affiliate program with a similar version of his ad copy, keywords and even the landing page? If it’s already proven, just follow. Spy Fu is an example of research tool to beat your competitors (or to follow them) and you use it’s free version to get started with.
You can ignore my advice about PPC - that’s fine. But the day I’ve started using tools, I’ll never do it manually again because I know the kind of advantage I’m getting from the rest of my competitors. Go ahead and buy another PPC/Adwords ebook and be excited. And that excitement won’t last long because once your competitor discovered your recipe, it just take a few minute for them to be in front of you and multiply that with hundreds of other ads.

Thanks for all of the comments. I saw a few questions here so I’m going to take the time to answer them.
“Actually it’s not easy as that—use a software, find out what others are doing successfully and copy and boom! you make loads of money. That’s not the case in reality.” Tony
Of course you’re right, it’s like if you have a Ferrari but you don’t know how to drive, you’ll still lose in the race or even worst, crash and hurt yourself.
But having a Ferrari is surely better than other ordinary cars.
“Thanks again for your advice. I’m thinking of learning PPC also. I did hear a lot of bad experience from them who use PPC, do you have any good ebook or course to recommend? I tried PPC classroom but was disappointed.” Elvin Tiong
Sorry to hear that, but I’ve seen the material and it’s pretty good. I’ll be endorsing other PPC courses in the future once I’ve review them.
“Great tip shared and I would also like to contribute my personal experience about Google AdWords Editor. It’s a powerful software which you can download onto your computer and work offline. Then add, edit or delete your campaigns as you progress. Ad groups can be quickly edited and upload back into your adwords campaign with ease. A must have for every PPC user!
As for SpyFu, I must say it is a great tool for you to “spy” on your online competitor’s adwords and keywords used. It also comes with a free trial and it provides comprehensive result as well as statistics. Maybe too much for a newcomer but definitely worth a trial for more experience PPC users.” – Cindy
Good to hear both resources are doing well for you.
“Great tips Patric. Unfortunately I had my Adwords account banned for unknown reason, even before I start any campaign. Any personal tips Patric?” – Neo
The best is to contact them directly, sometimes, they can be very helpful.
“Thanks for sharing some of your hard earned Knowledge
about Pay Per Click.
I guess unless you have a well established list, this is one
of the chief ways to get potential buyers to your site.
I have personally tried the PPC method, and it does work
to some degree. There is a Tool out there, hat is supposed
to make PPC marketing a Breeze, it’s Called Speed PPC.
What are your thought’s on using this tool?” – Jim
Yes, I recommend it. Good tool.
Thanks,
Patric Chan
