It’s time for me to talk about social media and some ‘rules’ to make this work profitably.

Social media is powerful because it has a “different” kind of traffic – they can get engaged with you on your site and be interactive.

They’ll want to express their viewpoints and “talk” with you which, make this traffic source more “closer”.

The 7 Rules of Social Media Success:

Rule #1: Make your site and your site’s content easily accessible. Finding you is one thing, but what will they find when they get there?Can your audience easily link to it? How can they be notified of updates to your site? How easy is it to broadcast or syndicate? How easily can they reach your site over and over again?

Rule #2: Include buttons and links on your page that’ll make tagging and book marking easy to do. Adding bookmarklets to your site makes it easy for your audience to have a say or express the value of your site. It makes it easy for them to promote and comment as well. You’ve seen those Facebook “like” buttons lately? Even Clickbank uses it a lot now.

Rule #3: Reciprocate any incoming links. Use features like trackbacks (for WordPress blogging) or retweet in Twitter and so on. It’s an added
incentive to make others wanting to link to you again and often.

Rule #4: Make your content portable (even off the web) using mp3s, pdfs, etc. Make it easy to link to or easy to add on their site. One of the best examples of sites that do this is YouTube. They provide a URL as well as an embed code that makes vlogs portable. With the trend of mobile marketing now, making content available through formats such as pdfs and mp3s definitely improves your content consumption.

Rule #5: Allow others to take your idea and make it their own. We’re not talking about plagiarism, but about collaboration. Some of the greatest ideas can come as a result of someone taking your idea to the next level. At the very least, your audience will appreciate your ideas and give you some acknowledgement. REMEMBER – community is all about sharing.

Rule #6: Always act as a resource for your audience even when there’s no apparent benefit. The more helpful you are, the greater your efforts will be appreciated and these benefits will materialize over the long term.

Rule #7: Be free with giving recognition and praise to your audience for providing insightful and useful comments on your site. People love to be noticed for their contributions. Make them feel good about you by making them feel good about themselves.

These rules provide the foundation for your search media optimization strategy. I think if you start incorporating these rules as a part of your site’s plan, you’ll see immediate benefits and ultimately, make you more money.

For me, you’ll see more of social media work down the road. It’s TIME.

Re: My Latest JV Partner – A Bank

I’ve partnered with a bank (no, not Clickbank, “blogging to the bank” but a real financial bank) to promote my internet marketing business.

This is a form of “local business”. I’ve seen a lot of marketers teaching about how to make money with local businesses but most of them are a pile of crap and I bet that they never make (or make big) money from local businesses before. I think I’ve rant this in the past, in Sunday Email #43… extracted from it:

Then everybody was rushing to ‘local business’ opportunity, saying how EASY it is to make money by selling to local businesses instead.

Here’s the weird part – it’s like saying this, “Oh, it’s fine if you can’t make money online dude. Just go offline because there will be suckers who might buy your idea and pay you lots of bucks to do stuff that you can’t even do it for yourself. High five!”

Let’s say if the first statement is acceptable, but there’s a second obstacle – it is not easy to get local business. Honestly, no one’s going to pay you $2K for doing stuff that do not work. Business owners are not stupid and you know what, most of them are much more experienced than you when it comes to business building. To be frank, I doubt those who taught ‘local business’ actually do local business. If you’re wondering how I know how complex local business marketing is, it’s simply because I have another company that do this stuff where we run Adwords for clients, develop CMS websites, etc.

Today, I want to give a different perspective. Local business doesn’t means that you have to sell internet marketing/search engine marketing services to small businesses or corporations – there’s a huge consumer market in where you live. Let’s say you know how to sell an ebook or make money from Clickbank.com, do you think your neighbor knows about that too? Probably not.

Do you think your neighbor would want to know your ‘secret’? Probably yes.

I’ve seen marketers making a lot of money with seminars and speaking on stage as speakers selling stuff that they don’t even use. These are the ‘smart’ marketers who are selling the “shovels”.

Maybe you’re not cut to be a speaker and can’t organize a seminar. But I guess you can still do small classes right?

I’m my previous course, The Local Niche Secrets, I’ve shared 36 local internet businesses you can do. For instance, you can setup a website where the locals can look for dates. Your website can help them to be matched for each other and you can get paid finder’s fee. Like this site, lunchactually.com – I happened to know about the website because its founder was in our seminar. It’s ‘local’ and have local dating programs. I think it’s brilliant to differentiate itself from match.com and other generic dating sites.

Proven Way To Get More Sales

I’m referring to getting more sales whenever I mail out to my mailing list. What I’m going to tell you is going to sound really ironic because you’re my subscriber and I’m mailing to you all the time.

Here’s an old adage you’ve heard in marketing, “give more value”.

Recently, I’ve been sending real content and valuable products to my list (apparently, that means you) and the response increased. When I send out promotion to them (again, that means promoting to you), I get more sales, making more money (meaning, you buy more).

Honestly, I think it wasn’t just the content that makes the sale. It was ‘earning the right’ to sell.

If you’re not getting good sales when you’re promoting to your list, then I guess they don’t think you deserve to sell. Sorry.

Secondly, I promote. I’m sure many other marketers out there give good content too but they don’t make good income.

They lack of something – they don’t ask for the sale.

Put it this way bluntly, if you don’t sell, why do you build a list anyway? Don’t tell me you just want to help and if that’s really the truth, I respect that but I think there are plenty of ways you can help the world other than spending the time with a mailing list.

If you’re scared to sell because you don’t want to upset your subscriber, you have a mindset block dude.

What Else I’m Doing…

Creating more good content. Yeah, I know it sounds really cheesy. But you know what – I have you reading my stuff here is mainly because of content. You buy my stuff because you want good content. See my point?

At the same time, I’m spending the time to give more content to my Chan Do Internet Success System customers. Why? Isn’t it obvious? More content = more business growth.

I think the teaching of “content attracts business” is more true than ever, especially with so many scammers out there. The marketer who has the real content will ultimately remain in this business and have the lion’s share.

If you create lousy content and people bought it, it’ll just be a matter of time before your name is spread in the world wide web (aka The Internet) as rotten apples.

On another side of the coin, YOU WILL GET BAD REVIEW but the question is, do you have more good reviews or bad reviews?

I’ve learned from Mark Joyner, if you don’t have bad reviews, it means that you’re not as successful as you think because you haven’t gotten a lot of customers yet. Did I pick that up from Mark? Can remember, but I’m sure I’ve learn several good business lessons from him directly and indirectly.

There are dozens of websites where people make free WordPress themes available that you can use for blogging and as an internet marketing platform to get started. No matter what the subject matter or topic of your site is, it is likely that you will be to find a theme that comes very close to matching what you want.

Try searching Google using a search term like ‘free WP themes’ or just ‘WP themes’ to see what you can find or try to shortcut the process of finding something you really like by searching for ‘your topic + theme’. Alternatively, try searching any of these sites to see what there is that is appropriate to your topic or subject matter:

Many of these sites are searchable, so you should be able to find something that matches your requirements fairly easily. This would work for my dog related site, although the puppy pictured is not a boxer as I would prefer it to be (but is often possible to change the header graphics fairly easily in any case, so this will be fine to start with)
 
I would click the ‘Download’ link to grab this particular theme. When you download it, the theme will be zipped, so you need to unzip it once it is on your machine.

The next job is to upload it to my site, which necessitate using an FTP program.Similar Posts:

One thing that makes WordPress site different to a standard HTML site is that everything you publish on your WordPress site appears chronologically. If you write and publish an article post on your site today and do the same thing again tomorrow, tomorrow’s article will push the one you published today further down the page.

On the other hand, one of the beauties of using WordPress is that it is incredibly easy to add new content to your site. To add new content, all you need to do is click the ‘Write’ link at the top left of the page, write what you want:
 
And then hit the ‘Publish’ button over to the right to have this content published to the net almost instantaneously:
 
You will note that you have the option of writing a new ‘Post’ or a new ‘Page’. If you choose a ‘post’, then whatever you have written will appear chronologically on the main ‘homepage’ of your site. If on the other hand you create a brand new page, there will be a link to that page from the homepage of your site, but the page that you have just created will not appear chronologically on that homepage.

In terms of the kind of content that you should add to your site, think about the kind of visitors you are going to attract. Anything that you can add to your site which will be of interest to your visitors adds extra value to it. Thus, adding written articles about training boxer dogs, videos that highlight dog training techniques, articles about various different types of dog food (don’t forget that you are promoting a dog food product) and literally anything that will be of interest to visitors is fair game.

If possible, a significant percentage of the content that you publish on your site should be unique, content that you create (or have been created for you) which cannot be found anywhere else.

However, you can ‘bulk up’ your site with content that your visitors will nevertheless find valuable by downloading and republishing articles from major directory sites like EzineArticles and GoArticles on your site. As long as you leave the original author details attached to these articles, republishing them in this way to add extra content to your site is perfectly acceptable.

Nevertheless, you should aim to have a site that features content that is overwhelmingly unique. Creating content of this nature is not however particularly difficult, probably nowhere near as difficult as you might imagine. For example, visit the two article directories highlighted in the previous paragraph, read a few articles that are appropriate to your market and then re-write them in your own words.

Whilst content that other people have written is copyrighted, the ideas or concepts behind those articles are not. Consequently, there is no reason whatsoever why you cannot take other people’s facts, information and ideas and recycle them into your own unique content materials.

Look for appropriate video materials on sites like YouTube. These can be added to your site simply by copying the ‘Embed’ link that you will find next to any appropriate videos that you want to use.
 
Paste this link onto your site, and the video should appear, although if you have any difficulties, there are plenty of video plugins available in the WordPress directory. If you cannot ‘Embed’ the video, use one of these plugins to help you.

The essential facts about the content that you and to your site is that it should be closely related to the topic of your site and it should be of interest and value to anyone who is interested in your subject matter.

On a site that is primarily focused on boxer dog training, for example, which is a form of niche marketing and the vast majority of your content should also focus on training boxers. However, even after adding all of this boxer dog related content, you still have no way of making money on your site as yet.

Then, the next step will be to promote an affiliate program related to such product that you can find easily at clickbank.com.Similar Posts:
